Born in Orange County, California and raised in New York City, Ursula C. Jackson is an early graduate of the State University of New York at Albany where she received her Bachelor's in Political Science and a double minor in Communications and Journalism. During her undergraduate coursework, she studied abroad at Middlesex University in London, England. Shortly thereafter, Ms. Jackson attended St. Thomas University School of Law where she again graduated early and earned her Juris Doctorate. While in law school, she became a Certified Legal Intern, received honors from the Peter T. Fay American Inn of Courts, actively participated in the American Trial Lawyers Association, Mock Trial Competitions, International Moot Court Competitions, Opinio Juris Newsletter and volunteered with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
Upon becoming a member of the Florida Bar in 2004, Ms. Jackson accepted a position as an Assistant Public Defender in the Broward County Public Defender's Office in pursuit of invaluable trial experience and knowledge of the Florida Criminal Justice System. During her tenure in public service, Ms. Jackson handled thousands of complex, diverse and high profile/media cases ranging from misdemeanors to life felonies and has tried dozens of cases to verdict. She began her legal career in a specialized Criminal and Mental Health Unit in County Court, quickly advanced to Juvenile Court Detentions and later assigned as a supervising lead attorney in notable Felony Divisions. She has argued hundreds of motions including a select number that have led to an extensive appellate record. Accordingly in 2010, Ms. Jackson was sponsored and prestigiously invited to Washington, D.C. to become a member of the United States Supreme Court Bar to be recognized before the nine Honorable Supreme Court Justices. Ms. Jackson has also earned her federal bar membership in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the United States Tax Court and acts as an ADA Attorney Representative in Administrative Court.
After vesting in the Broward County Public Defender's Office, she formed The Law Office of Ursula C. Jackson, P.L.L.C., a firm exclusively dedicated to the practice of criminal defense and civil litigation. The firm has a professional mission to provide intelligent, aggressive and client focused legal representation to protect and defend the rights of the Accused.
Ms. Jackson is an Adjunct Professor for Keiser University and Miami Dade College. She serves as a Certified Business Advisor for SCORE and is committed to the Florida Innocence Project to exonerate those wrongfully incarcerated.
